NekNominations will count as manslaughter

Neknominate, the latest craze, isn't just uni students downing a pint of whatever drinks they found lying around in an overwhelming uninteresting way as your news feed likely has you believing. Some of the nominations have seen ridiculous and hilarious spins put on it; like the woman who walked into ASDA in her underwear to down a drink, or the guys who've drank out of toilet bowls. But some of the nominations have also lead to deaths.

We've have two in the UK now, the latest being Stephen Brooks about a week ago, who died after downing a pint of vodka. His death is currently being investigated by South Wales Police. Following this tragic turn, lawyers have warned that in the rare case things did take a turn for the tragic, the nominators could be up for manslaughter.

Given the very real risk of death or severe injury when drinking in a reckless manner or obscene quantity (yes a pint of vodka is obscene), it could be seen that someone nominating a person to do it is intentionally endangering them. Therefore if they should die, whilst not intended, the person who nominated them would have been aware it was a potential risk.

So nominators be warned; unless your friend is guaranteed to perform a neknominate as lame as the one's mine have been doing, steer clear just in case.
