Sherlock museum planned for Portsmouth!
Fan girls and boys, rejoice! A new museum dedicated to Sherlock Holmes is to be opened in Portsmouth.
There are now plans to build a "world class multimedia experience" in Portsmouth, the city where Arthur Conan Doyle originally conceived the character in 1882.
The sleuth has seen a dramatic increase in popularity in recent years, which you will know unless you have been living under a rock or in a dark cave.
Hollywood has spawned two feature films starring the bromantic pairing of Robert Downey Jr (Sherlock) and Jude Law (Watson). The BBC has gifted us with an award winning dramitisation starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), with his cheekbones that could cut glass and his trusted side-kick Martin Freeman (Watson), who was also recently star of The Hobbit.
If you have ever fancied yourself as the detective, fans may soon be able to live out plots and scenes from Sherlock's adventures in a £25m attraction.
It will contain holograms and use the city's abundance of Conan Doyle resources to create an enhanced and realistic fan experience.
Steve Pitt from Portsmouth cultural partnership said; "There are 6.9million people who search for Sherlock Homes and Conan Doyle on Google every month. There is a massive market for this."
There is also a significant opportunity to create jobs in the area... but let's face it, no one cares because there is going to be a whole museum dedicated to Sherlock Holmes!
