Pastor bans women and girls from wearing underwear in church

A pastor in Kenya has recently passed a new rule for the ladies that attend his church. They're not to wear underwear, as it stops them feeling close to God. They'll feel much closer to God without their bras and panties.

The men are fine to wear whatever they like when it comes to undies, but the woman are not to wear it under threat of "grave consequences". This does beg the question "how will they know?", which could leave an even creepier underlying theme of "checking". We don't know for sure panty-checks are going on, but we do know that mothers are encouraged to check that their daughters aren't wearing any, giving this creepy tale a little hint to the incestuous.

This pastor insists it's because you need to be "free in body and spirit" when you attend church. Which still doesn't really begin to explain it in any way. But since it's a highly religious community where the oppression on women is rife, he's getting away with it successfully at the moment.
