A while back we brought you rumours that as hit show How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) comes to a close, it won't be leaving for good as a spin-off following a woman trying to find her future husband. Now we can confirm that those rumours were 100% true; How I Met Your Dad (HIMYD) will be hitting screens at some point. And there's more.
It's going to follow the journey of Sally, a female Peter Pan, trapped in a loveless marriage one year in. Sally is to be played by Greta Gerwig, the star of indie comedies Frances Ha and Lola Versus. This could be great as Greta is known for pushing the boundaries and being pretty hilarious, which are both generally good things to bring to a tv show.
She's also going to be a producer, and her role as such will see her having input into the script-writing.
We're excited to see how this is going to work; it looks like there's going to be a lot of difference between HIMYM and HIMYD, which is great, but too much could change the tone and make it an entirely different concept. Two of the script writers, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are also responsible for How I Met Your Mother - but hopefully it'll be an improvement on the last series. Either way, it's going to be worth a watch.
